Comite Civil hosts 6th Annual Environmental Health and Leadership Summit

A new video provides highlights of the 6th Annual Environmental Health and Leadership Summit in Brawley, California, the heart of the Imperial Valley, sponsored by Moving Forward Network member Comite Civico Del Valle.

It was an outstanding event, with excellent speakers, workshops, and information booths.  Among the topics of the meeting was asthma, from which 1 in 5 children in the county suffer.

Participants discussed solutions developed by Comite Civico and its partners. Highlights include the innovative Identifying Vioations affecting neighborhoods (IVAN) system, and the Imperial County Asthma CER Project (RESPIRA) project, which is focuses on decreasing rates of uncontrolled asthma among African-Americans and Hispanics/Latinos.
