A note from Angelo Logan, our Campaign and Policy Director

Over ten years ago, I had the privilege and joy to join forces with so many community leaders in the co-creation of the Moving Forward Network (MFN). For the last eight years, it’s been an honor serving the MFN membership on staff as the Campaign and Policy Director. Today, I am announcing that I will be transitioning out of my role with MFN in June 2022. At the core, this is a transition based on the growth of MFN.

The MFN is a family committed to continuous growth centered on love and care for and by the community, rooted in building community power to dismantle all forms of oppression. To this end —the MFN family has made time, space and done amazing work toward collective leadership and power building as part of the environmental justice movement.

Over the last couple of years, the MFN has grown in many ways. The membership has broadened its reach to over 55 organizations in 20 communities across the U.S. MFN has elevated the need to address freight transportation’s contribution to environmental racism and the climate crisis, an issue once overlooked by policymakers, allies and funders. MFN has also grown its staff, resources and organizing infrastructure.

As part of the MFN’s collective leadership and power-building principle and practice, I will be transitioning out of my role with MFN. This transition is part of MFN’s growth and will be integrated into our strategic planning this year. The hope is that my transition will open up room for other leaders from our communities to share in the responsibility and privilege I have had for 8 years. New leadership and staff can bring new and expansive possibilities for environmental justice and equity.

While I am transitioning out of my staff role, I will not transition out of the MFN family. I have experienced tremendous growth and learned so much from all the MFN members, allies and friends and hope to continue to build strong relationships and movement partnerships into the future.

The coming years are exciting, with change in sight, as MFN has launched the Zero-Emission Freight: Community Voices for Equity and Environmental Justice campaign.

Our team looks forward to connecting with folks interested in the opening for my position. You can find the link to the job posting here.

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to stand alongside each of you in joy and in struggle.

In solidarity, with love.
