There has been lots of freight news recently from the area around Bethlehem PA. 12 million square feet of warehouses in the Lehigh Valley has more than tripled the last twenty years, truck traffic is heavy and projected to double in the next twenty years. Traffic congestion is bad and will get worse. The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey has proposed to build an inland port with customs facilities.
The Lehigh Valley Planning Commission has agreed to form a Freight Movement Advisory Board consisting of warehouse, transportation, and freight professionals. There is no mention of including representatives of overburdened communities on the board.
