This Sunday, Denny Larson, Executive Director of Global Community Monitor, will be interviewed on the CBS News show 60 Minutes about Chinese-made laminated flooring sold by Lumber Liquidators that emits hazardous levels of formaldehyde.
Global Community Monitor provides air quality monitoring services for community, environmental, and health organizations, including Moving Forward Network members.
Formaldehyde is a toxic air contaminant that can cause dermatitis, asthma, and cancer, according to the California Department of Public Health
Global Community Monitor sued Lumber Liquidators in July after test results revealed that their laminated flooring emits formaldehyde at levels up to 100 times higher than the legal limit in California. After Lumber Liquidators told investors about the upcoming 60 minutes episode, their stock plunged over 25 percent.
As of this morning, there has been little news coverage of this controversy. For more information, check out the references below.
