Documentary film producer, director, and Moving Forward Network consultant Leah Mahan and other environmental justice advocates were interviewed by veteran National Public Radio correspondent Frank Stasio on the live “The State of Things” radio show last week.
In the interview, Leah provides the fascinating backstory of her award-winning film, COME HELL OR HIGH WATER: The Battle for Turkey Creek.
This very moving film won the audience award for documentary feature at the New Orleans Film Festival and will be included in the American Film Showcase, an international cultural diplomacy program.
Turkey Creek, Mississippi is a historic black settlement established in 1866, predating the nearby city of Gulfport by over 30 years, and the battle to save the community is epic. Click below to listen to this excellent interview.
Check out the review below, and consider having the film screened in your community. The cost is very reasonable, and discounts are available for Environmental Justice organizations. Visit the Come Hell or High Water web site to learn more!
