The House and Senate are moving fast to provide $8.2 billion for port and waterway projects which could – unless carefully planned and implemented – increase the diesel exhaust burden on nearby communities, and have horrible health impacts.
Have any of our leaders – in the Executive or Legislative branches – done anything to ensure that the final bill will include provisions to protect the health of the public, particularly communities closest to the ports, waterways, and connecting highways and rail lines?
