Environmental and community groups are taking the battle over the proposed Oakland CA coal export terminal back to the source – the State of Utah, the planned source of $53 million in funding.

A large coalition of influential organizations are working together on this campaign  – MFN members and Zero Campaign endorsers EarthjusticeSunflower Alliance, and West Oakland Environmental Indicators Project, plus over 20 other national and regional groups.

The organizations sent a very pointed letter to the Utah Attorney General, raising serious charges, including the fact that the funds four Utah counties intend to invest in the coal terminal are intended to “mitigate impacts from fossil fuel production,”  – pretty much the opposite of how they plan on using them.
