On Wednesday, we reported on rumors that the Federal government was about to issue new draft fuel economy rules for big rigs and other commercial vehicles.
It happened today, and though they will take a long time to implement (2027), the impact will be huge:
- Fuel savings equivalent to all US OPEC oil imports,
- Annual emissions reductions of 1 billion tons,
- Reduction in carbon pollution equivalent to taking 210 million cars off the road
