Coalition For A Safe Environment and other groups appeal Port of Long Beach Mitsubishi Cement Terminal expansion project

MFN Member Coalition for a Safe Environment (CFASE) and several other LA region organizations have filed an appeal of the approval of the Environmental Impact Report for a proposed expansion of the Mitsubishi Cement Terminal expansion at the Port of Long Beach.

The groups’ investigation of the EIR found significant misstatements of fact.  It also revealed that a proposed emissions reduction system for ships docking at the facility may be impossible to use because it infringes on patents for the Advanced Maritime Emissions Control System (AMECS).

Joining CFASE in this appeal are local and statewide organizations California Kids IAQ, Community Dreams, California Safe Schools, Society For Positive Action, Del Amo Action Committee, Action Now, Apostolic Faith Center, and California Communities Against Toxics.
